Our Story

“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8

During our dating life (way back in 2006) we had several profound moments in which we realized that our passions and desires for international travel, overseas missions and humanitarian service were connected. After our engagement in 2006, we started praying and exploring how God would use these passions and dreams in our life as a married couple. Come to find out, that during that same time frame our close friends, Jonathan and Kayla George, were also praying the same prayer and wrestling with the same dreams. Over the course of the last 2 years the four of us, Daniel, Jamie, Jonathan and Kayla, through countless conversations, committed to pray and seek God’s direction for what these deep, soul-stirring dreams were all about. We have found an incredible opportunity to love those who are in need. Our passion for Africa became realized this past year after much dreaming, planning, and praying together. It is with great joy, excitement, nervousness, adventurous fear and the realization of the unknown that we have decided to take this leap for Jesus and move to the small country of Malawi, Africa in the summer of 2009.

Daniel
My first international trip came in 1995 at the age of 17 when I took a 2 week trip to Dmitriov, Russia.  I spent two weeks visiting a children's hospital, orphanage and working with kids throughout the community.  This trip was pivotal in the direction of my life as it opened my eyes to the needs of the world.  I also took a couple of trips to work with kids in inner city Philadelphia during high school and this helped contribute to my understanding of the immense needs found around the world.

After I graduated from Liberty University in 2000, I moved to Moscow, Russia to spend 2 years working in the city.  During my time in Moscow, I helped a team of missionaries work with local churches to start new churches.  I spent the majority of my time working with high school/college age youth, using sports and English classes as ways to build relationships with them.

Jamie

Growing up in a military family stationed in Okinawa, Japan, my childhood taught me much in the way of cultural diversity, love for people and international travel. However, while I was attending college at Liberty University I realize that my international journeys as a child had missed out on seeing the need of helping others less fortunate and realizing their need of God’s mercy, justice and love. During my time at Liberty University, I came across an opportunity to serve with a team traveling for 2 weeks through the cities of India and telling many of Jesus’ love and care. I can remember my last night in India on that 1998 trip; I was standing on the roof of our hotel in Mumbai overlooking one of the world’s largest slum areas. I stood there with a heart full of compassion and mercy praying that God would use me for His purpose for the rest of my life…it was a turning point, an “ah-ha” moment that I will never forget. The following year I left for India once again, this time part of Team India, a team that served on the grounds of an orphanage of 600+ children in Kota, Rajasthan, India for 8 months. Since my life-changing trips to India I have always prayed and hoped that again my love for people, international humanitarian aid and the hope in Jesus' message of justice and mercy to the disenfranchised people of the world would be a vital and indispensable part of my life, marriage and the purpose for my family.
